According to a Dec. 28 article on Latino Fox News, Selena Gomez has known she has lupus for a couple of years, and lately it has begun to affect her more severely. This is the reason she has cancelled the rest of her current tour which was scheduled to begin in Australia in January. She initially stated she just needed time to herself after her grueling work schedule for the past few years.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects people in different ways, but the Lupus Foundation of America says it can cause pain, inflammation, and damage in any part of the body. One example of the varied forms of lupus is the singer Seal who has scars on his face from discoid lupus as a child.
When someone has lupus, their body cannot differentiate between good and bad, often firing a defensive attack of antibodies at their own body, causing the negative results. Usually, lupus affects people in waves, receding for periods of time.
Selena Gomez was seen attending a Britney Spears concert on Friday night, reportedly having a great time relaxing with friends. You can read about that here.
Of course, the Knoxville Celebrity Examiner wishes Selena Gomez all the best as she takes some time to rest and rejuvenate.
