According to the International Ski Federation website, Canadians swept the podium on Friday in a World Cup halfpipe skiing competition at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.

Justin Dorey of Vernon, British Columbia won the World Cup competition with 87.2 points. He was followed by Noah Bowman of Calgary with 84.4 points and Matt Margetts of Penticton, British Columbia with 82.6 points.

The Canadian sweep is significant because it comes one month from the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi and all three Canadian medalists Friday are battling for spots on the Canadian Olympic team. One notable Canadian who did not compete on Friday was reigning World Cup champion Mike Riddle of Sherwood Park, Alberta who was sidelined because of a bruised heel. According to the Canadian Press, Riddle is already on the Canadian team and has one of the three Canadian Olympic spots available.

It was Dorey's first World Cup victory on Friday. He had twice before won bronze medals in France.

Dorey is impressed at how deep the Canadian team is.

"We have a lot of talent on the team right now. Going into the Games, we're all feeling pretty confident."

Still Dorey realizes that not all of the Canadians who were on the podium on Friday will represent Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

"We can't relax. We're competing against each other all the time this year. It (The Olympic spots) does push us and make us a lot better."
