Canadian woman becomes world's first graduate with Beatles M.A. degree

Canadian Mary-Lu Zahalan-Kennedy can now add a unique item to her resume. She's become the first graduate of Liverpool Hope University's program for a master of arts degree in the Beatles, the university announced Tuesday. Twelve students joined the program when it launched in 2009.

The course looked at the studio sound and music of the Beatles and how the city of Liverpool helped shape their work.  The master of arts degree also examines the significance of the music of the Beatles and its impact on culture and society.

“The course was challenging, enjoyable and it provided a great insight into the impact The Beatles had and still have to this day across all aspects of life. The faculty and students at Liverpool Hope University were crucial in providing an unforgettable experience and their support was invaluable.” Zahalan-Kennedy commented about the course.
