While cycling in Cuba, Jeff Reid came in contact with local cycling teams in need of decent racing bicycles and equipment. The school team in Banes had only one poor quality bike for all 14 kids to share. Jeff immediately donated his own racing bicycle and all his equipment to help the kids on the team. Upon returning to Canada he began locating used bicycles and equipment and started sending them down to Cuba for the team.
After just one year, the Banes team was equipped with some 30 good racing bicycles, helmets, clothing and gear, all donated (and transported) by caring Canadians. In year two, jeff is aiming for 100 bikes to Cuba.
Jeff relies on Canadian tourists that are flying from Toronto/Ottawa/Montreal to take one, two or more bicycles with them on the plane. He has all bikes boxed ready for air travel and the airlines are very cooperative accepting them regularly as sporting goods. Jeff meets you at the airport, and covers all costs if any. Once there, the cycling coach picks the boxed bikes up at the resort.
It's a simple, easy process, but Jeff needs more Canadian tourists to help by taking a bike with them on their next trip to Cuba.
If you are planning a trip to this area and really want to make a difference in the lives of the Cuban people please help Jeff!
