Canadian teams win in Olympic curling Wednesday

According to the Sochi 2014 website, team Canada remained undefeated in women's curling on Wednesday and moved to the .500 mark in men's curling at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

In women's action, Canada defeated Great Britain 9-6 to improve to 3-0. With Canada leading 8-6 heading into the tenth end, Great Britain world champion skip Eve Muirhead had an opportunity to tie the game and force an extra end with a draw, but went for the very difficult triple takeout to try and win the game. She was unsuccessful and ended up giving a steal of one point and the Canadian victory.

Jennifer Jones took control of the game in the fifth end when she executed an outstanding run back to take a 6-3 lead.

In men's action, Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario defeated Russia 7-4 to improve to 2-2. Russian fourth stone thrower Alexey Stukalskiy flashed with his first stone in the first end which led to Canada generating a four ender.

Canada's next game on the women's side is against Denmark (Wednesday, TSN, 10:00 p.m.). While the next game for the Canadian men's curling team is also against Denmark (Wednesday, TSN2, 3:00 a.m.).
