According to the Canadian Olympic Committee, two Canadian Olympic medal winning swimmers were inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame in Vancouver on Thursday.
Olympic bronze medalist Brent Hayden of Mission, British Columbia joined a very prestigious list. Hayden won a bronze medal in the men's 100m freestyle swimming competition at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Meanwhile, Olympic silver medalist Ralph Hutton of Ocean Falls, British Columbia joined fellow Ocean Falls Amateur Swim Club members as part of an entire team. Swimmers from the club won the 1965 combined team trophy at the Canadian Swimming Championships in Red Deer, Alberta. Hutton went on to win a silver medal in the men's 400m freestyle swimming competiton at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City.
Other athletes included LPGA star Dawn Coe-Jones, two-time Mann Cup champion Kevin Alexander, former Canadian national rugby player Robert Hindson, three-time ironman world champion Peter Reid, basketball coaches Ken and Kathy Shields, Hockey Night in Canada producer Larry Isaac, hockey coach Pat Quinn and hockey player Larry Kwong.
