Canadian Olympic gold medalists in 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs

According to the National Hockey League website, the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs will begin on Wednesday evening. Among the National Hockey League players playing in the tournament, there will be 29 Canadian Olympic gold medalists.

A total of ten players are multi-gold medalists. Jarome Iginla of the Boston Bruins won a gold medal for Canada at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City and the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

Nine others meanwhile won a gold medal at the last two Olympic Winter Games. Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins, Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks, Duncan Keith and Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks, Patrick Marleau of the San Jose Sharks, and Rick Nash of the New York Rangers won a gold medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Eric Brewer of the Tampa Bay Lightning won a gold medal for Canada at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Dan Boyle and Joe Thornton of the San Jose Sharks, Brenden Morrow of the St. Louis Blues, Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Dany Heatley of the Minnesota Wild, Mike Richards of the Los Angeles Kings and Brent Seabrook of the Chicago Blackhawks won a gold medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

At the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, there were 11 first time Canadian Olympic gold medalists who will be playing in the 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs. The list includes Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars, Jay Bouwmeester and Alex Pietrangelo of the St. Louis Blues, Jeff Carter of the Los Angeles Kings, Matt Duchene of the Colorado Avalanche, Chris Kunitz of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Carey Price and P.K. Subban of the Montreal Canadiens, Patrick Sharp of the Chicago Blackhawks, Martin St. Louis of the New York Rangers and Marc-Edouard Vlasic of the San Jose Sharks.
