According to Kerry Gillespie of the Toronto Star on Friday, Charles Hamelin of Levis, Quebec is a short track machine.

Now at 29, Hamelin will look to defend his Olympic gold medals in the men's 500m and men's 5000m relay in short track speed skating at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and look to also win Olympic gold medals in the men's 1000m and men's 1500m events.

But Hamelin has great support from his girlfriend, Marianne St-Gelais of Roberval, Quebec. At 23 years old, St-Gelais is a two-time Olympic medalist herself. She won a silver medal in the women's 500m short track speed skating event at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and another silver medal in the women's 3000m relay.

St-Gelais will also be a medal contender this time in the women's 1500m, where she won a bronze medal at the 2013 World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Debercen, Hungary.

Hamelin will be making his third Olympic appearance for Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, while St-Gelais will be competing in her second.

The men's 500m and 5000m relay will take place February 21, with the men's 1000m on February 15 and the men's 1500m on February 10.
