He will be joined by his wife Danielle Wotherspoon-Gregg of Red Deer, Alberta, who will be competing in women's speed skating for Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. The two got married on June 1, 2013.
Jamie Gregg of Edmonton has an outside medal shot in the men's 500m, where he finished second to Japan's Joji Kato in the 500m portion of the 2013 World Sprint Speed Skating Championships in Salt Lake City last January.
Jamie Gregg and Danielle Wotherspoon-Gregg also come from huge Olympic families. Jamie's father Randy won five Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers, his mother Kathy represented Canada in speed skating at the 1976 Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck and the 1980 Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid, and his sister Jessica won a silver medal in the women's 3000m short track speed skating relay at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.
Danielle Wortherspoon-Gregg meanwhile is the sister of Jeremy Wotherspoon, the Canadian Olympic silver medalist in the 500m speed skating event from the 1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano. Jeremy Wotherspoon also has the world record in the men's 500m, which he set on November 9, 2007 in Salt Lake City.
