Canadian National Women's Team to open 2013 schedule in China

The Canadian National Women’s Team will aim to build on the successes of 2012 when the Olympic soccer bronze medalists kick off the 2013 season in China.

China PR announced on New Year’s Day that the upcoming Yongchuan Cup Four Nation Women’s Tournament 2013 is slated to happen from Jan. 12-16.

Joining Canada in the competition are Korea Republic, Norway and host China PR.

Canada opens the event on Jan. 12 against China PR. The Canadians then play on Jan. 14 against Korea Republic and on Jan. 16 against Norway. All three tilts will be contested at the Yongchuan Olympic Center.

This marks the fourth time Canada has traveled to China PR for a Four-Nation Women’s Tournament (2004, 2008, 2011 and now 2013). In 2011, Canada finished second after posting two wins and one loss in three matches.

Following the Yongchuan Cup, Canada will prepare to participate in the 2013 Cyprus Women’s Cup from March 4-14.
