The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) and Wildfire Golf Club in Lakefield, Ont., are hooking up to produce the eighth annual Canadian International Junior Challenge from Sept. 8-11.

Located in the heart of the Kawarthas on the shores of Stoney Lake, Wildfire Golf Club opened in 2003 and has quickly become one of the premier private courses in Ontario.

Wildfire is a private, family-oriented club featuring a spectacular 18-hole layout designed by noted Canadian golf course architect Tom McBroom.

The course has been the site of many provincial championships and is the title sponsor of The Wildfire Invitational presented by PC Financial on the PGA Tour Canada. The junior challenge will be the first time the club hosts an international competition.

In 2004, Golf Digest magazine selected Wildfire as the Best New Private Golf Club in Canada.

"Wildfire Golf Club is very excited to be a part the 2014 Canadian International Junior Challenge. As a club we are very committed to supporting junior golf,” said Jeff Mills, Wildfire's Director of Golf. “Wildfire has hosted the GAO Ontario Junior Championship and has been a major sponsor of the Golf in Schools Program in the Peterborough area. We are very much looking forward to hosting the juniors from Canada and around the world at our club, we have no doubt they will have a spectacular week of golf and camaraderie at Wildfire."

The Canadian International Junior Challenge was developed to provide elite junior golfers from around the world with an opportunity to compete in a high profile international event in Canada.

Sponsored by Nike Golf Canada, it is the only multi-team international junior golf championship conducted in Canada and strengthens the relations of international golfing federations.
