According to the World Curling Federation website, Canada defeated China 9-6 on Sunday in the 2014 World Men's Curling Championship from Beijing, China.

The Canadian team, which is represented by skip Kevin Koe out of the Glencoe Club in Calgary, now improves to 2-1 in the overall standings.

The turning point in the Canadian victory came in the sixth end. With the score tied at three points apiece, Chinese skip Rui Liu racked off his own guard allowing the Canadians to steal three points and take command of the contest.

The Canadian team finds themselves in a four way tie for third place with Japan, Sweden and Switzerland. It was Japan that handed Canada its only loss of the tournament to date as they delivered a 9-6 upset earlier on Sunday. Germany and Norway are tied on top of the standings at 3-0.

Canada's next game will be against Russia Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. mountain time.
