According to the Hockey Canada website, team Canada will play for gold in the men's hockey competition at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

On Friday, Canada defeated the United States 1-0 in the men's semi-final game at the Bolshoy Ice Dome.

Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars scored the only goal in the contest at 1:41 of the second period on even strength from Jay Bouwmeester of the St. Louis Blues.

Team Canada did a fantastic job of limiting the United States to many significant scoring opportunities. The United States had 31 shots on goal on Canadian goaltender Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens, but created very few quality chances.

Price recorded his first shutout for Canada at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games after giving up only one goal in each of his first three games of the Olympic hockey tournament.

Canada will now face Sweden in the gold medal game. Sweden defeated Finland 2-1 in the other semi-final. Sweden's Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators scored the game winning goal with 3:34 left in the second period.
