Canada advances to gold medal game in Olympic men's curling

According to the Sochi 2014 website on Wednesday, Canada has advanced to the gold medal game in men's curling of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

The Canadians defeated China 10-6 in the men's semi-final. With the game tied at four points apiece, the Canadian team made three outstanding shots in the seventh end to break a 4-4 tie. Canadian third Ryan Fry made an excellent freeze, and skip Brad Jacobs made a huge double takeout and then a draw for three points.

With the win, Canada will now play Great Britain in the men's curling gold medal game (Friday, CBC, 6:30 a.m.). Great Britain defeated Sweden 6-5 in the other-semi final. Great Britain skip David Murdoch has beaten Canada twice before in the gold medal game of the World Curling Championship. He beat Jean-Michel Menard of Amos, Quebec 7-4 in 2006 and Kevin Martin of Edmonton 6-5 in 2009.

In the round robin, Canada (7-2) defeated Great Britain (5-4) by a score of 9-6.
