Cover of The Sister Exchange
March is Small Press Month, so throughout the month, I'll be highlighting books from small presses and independent publishers.
Tell me the truth...have you ever wanted to trade in your brother or sister? Even though we love them deep down, there are just those times you really wish you could trade them in!
In The Sister Exchange, Brianna really wants her sister, Julianne, to stop bothering her. If Brianna sings, Julianne joins in. If Brianna wears braids, Julianne wants braids, too. So Brianna asks her mom if she can trade Brianna in. After all, her friend Jenna's parents traded in their car for a better one.
Mom calls the sister exchange and gives Brianna some options... There's Chatta who will literally talk your ear off, Rackette who snores so loud the ground will shake, and Toecheez whose feet are so stinky, they'll peel the paint off walls. None of these appeal to Brianna, so when the sister exchange finds a sister who will love Brianna a lot, always want to play with her, and think everything her big sister does is terrific, Brianna wants her. Turns out her name is Julianne and she already lives there.
The Sister Exchange is a fun read-aloud that will remind young readers that even though they're tempted at times to trade in their brother or sister, there's nothing like the sibling they have.
