Can't trust American Media? How about world media?

Conservatives have long complained that the American News Media is biased in favor of the liberal left while libertarians contend it's biased in favor of the corporatist state.

So where do people go for unbiased news reporting? Fox News with their "Fair and balanced" debates between approved neocon positions and the token liberal view, or CNN with their "Most trusted name in [liberal] news" motto?

There's no doubt that, for news, views, opinions, ideas, and interpretations never seen or heard in America's mainstream media, favored go-to sources may be non-American, including those that many will call outright un-American.

Who else would call Obama a "Communist without question" than that old Soviet Commie mouthpiece newspaper Pravda? And who else would know better?

But it was also Pravda who warned Americans in a recent headline, "Americans never give up your guns." And again, who else would know better?

A more modern Russky news outlet is Russia Today, typically hiding behind their initials RT (but whose catchphrase is "Question more").

The Russian-based state-funded TV network has been telling Americans things their political masters don't want them to know since 2005. For example:

1. In an article about Israel's obsession with building walls all around their country RT quoted a spokesperson for the Stop the Wall Movement who called it an "apartheid wall."

2. After reporting that America's anti-gun rights and Nobel Peace Prize winning president will sell more "bombers, missiles and rockets to China's and North Korea’s neighbors" as a challenge to China's power in the area RT interviewed an "independent journalist" who sees the move as "worsening tensions in the region" and adds "it is not about containing China’s growing potential, but giving contractors a chance to make billions of dollars."

Like or not, agree or not, ask yourself where you would likely see these opinions in the US mainstream media.

And then there's Al Jazeera, the Emir of Qatar-owned TV network that recently bought Current TV, the better to "present a different, more positive image of Arabs and Islam generally to Americans."

If that sounds like propaganda be aware that it was Al Jazeera, not our mainstream "news" that warned us about "the sparse media coverage of the Bradley Manning hearings."

When all is said and done there's only one reliable source for news: you.

And that means reading multiple sources on the internet and then making up your own mind.
