Encore is a restaurant and bar located at 492 Pearl Street in Buffalo, once the location of Hemmingway's. Its claims to be known for great “steak seafood sushi” are to be believed with a fresh menu looking like something off of Top Chef from executive chef Christopher Daigler. Encore draws in a nice happy hour and weekend crowd including Buffalo business people, Buffalo sports stars, and a Buffalo 21 and up party crowd.
Always playing the newest hits, remixes, and old school hip-hop jams on weekends, the music at Encore never disappoints. There is a bar downstairs, a bar upstairs, and in the summer, a bar is also open in the patio area. The first floor bar area is standing room only on a usual Saturday night, but the upstairs bar has seating at tables and is usually less crowded. A fun crowd is always found at Encore where the cliental dresses classy and the drinks are always flowing.
Encore boasts many sushi specials, including a 5-6pm happy hour everyday, which entails half price sushi and bar menu items, as well as 2 for 1 drinks. On Tuesdays, you can have unlimited sushi for $20.95. Friday happy hours include the everyday 5-6pm happy hour, and an additional 6-8pm happy hour with $5 1/2 pitchers of Blue Light and 1/2 price specialty martinis.Encore has two staircases to the upstairs. One is located on the right when you walk in the door which allows you to by pass the crowded downstairs, and a second after the bar in the hallway before the door leading out to the back patio. The covered, enclosed patio comes complete with a bar, which is open during summer months, and provides a place for smokers in the winter. There is a place to hang your winter coat on the right when you walk in, but at your own risk: there is no coat check.
