If you are a NASCAR fan and enjoy camping, there is no better way to spend a weekend. The track known as “The Lady in Black” or the track “Too Tough to Tame” is the home to several NASCAR races every year including the SHOWTIME Southern 500, the Royal Purple 200 and the Too Tough to Tame 200, all of which are challenging to drivers because of the track’s unique shape and difference in the degrees of each turn.
There is plenty of camping at the Darlington Raceway. A large amount of the property on the frontstretch is owned by the speedway, but goes through a residential neighborhood that can make traffic pretty tough on race weekends.
The Infield
To be in the center of the action, camp in the infield of the track at the Grecko RV Park. Each space has a 30-amp hook up. The price of camping in the infield includes two infield admission tickets.
GEICO Grounds Green and Yellow Campgrounds
Also known as Palmetto Terrace and Azalea Terrace, these campgrounds are located on the inside of the turns. The Green campground is between turns one and two. The Yellow campground is between turns three and four. There is plenty of space for your RV here with 15 X 30-foot lots. The price includes four infield admission tickets.
GEICO Grounds Red
Also known as Magnolia Place, this campground is located on the west end of the track, between turns three and four. The tickets hear are less expensive than the Green and Yellow campgrounds and include two infield admission tickets.
Petty Boulevard RV
Located just outside the main gate, near the TylerTower, this campground has 20X40-foot lots and is lighted.
GEICO Caveman Campground
Formerly known as CampDarlington, this campground is an overnight, fenced parking area located behind the PearsonTower. The lots are 15X30-feet and can be reserved.
Park Place RV
Located behind the Raceway Credential Office off of Highway 151, the Park Place RV campground has 20X45-foot lots available.
Other Info
All of the campgrounds at the track can be reserved by calling 866-459-7223. All RV’s and motorhomes must be self-contained. Fans that have flags to display must take them down during any track activity and their poles must be non-metallic.
The Darlington Raceway website states that the raceway is “family friendly”, meaning there is an enforced quiet time when the loud music has to be turned off and belligerent guests will not be tolerated.
