Camp Wellstone shows how to take action

This past weekend, Wellstone Action!, held a 2 1/2 day camp at the U of MN Law School. The camp focused on three different areas of the political process: citizen activism, working on a campaign, and being a candidate. These three different areas are known as "the Wellstone Triangle" and will give individuals the tactics for success, through grassroots organizing, and equips the participants with the tools to run a winning progressive campaign. The camp isn't a walk in the park and a lot is expected from participants in order for them to have a successful camp.

Wellstone Action is a national center for training and leadership development in the progressive movement and was founded in January 2003. Over 40,000 people have graduated since the program began in 2003 and camps have been held in 47 different states.

The curriculum at the camp is presented by the nation's leading grassroots organizers, which gives the participants a realistic perspective on how to run a successful campaign. The curriculum has been drawn from Paul and Sheila Wellstone's approach at entering the political arena as new comers. The real world skills, presented at the camp(s), have made Camp Wellstone a success amongst graduates of the program(s).
