Camp isn't just for summertime anymore

Did you know that businesses across Long Island hold special camps for kids over school vacations? Here are a few to check out if you're looking for something for your kids to do.

Once Upon A Treetop (151 Dupont Street, Plainview) School's out, have fun at the Treetop!  Every day this week (February 15 through 19), the Treetop is holding camp for kids ages 4 through 7 from 930am to 1215pm.  Kids will enjoy lots of activities including Open Play in our Little City, arts & crafts, story time and lots more. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Pre-registration is a must.  Fees are $45 per child per day, and $30 for additional siblings.  To register, call 516.349.1140.

Ward Melville Heritage Organization is holding a series of children's art workshops this week for kids ages 6 through 10.  Each morning will concentrate on a different art project - February 16 is animal mobiles, February 17 is shadow puppets and February 18 is self-portraits.  Admission is $12 per child per class and includes all materials.  Classes are held at the Educational & Cultural Center, 97P Main Street, Stony Brook.  Call 631.689.5888 for more information.

For the younger kids who need to burn off some energy, Gymboree is offering a President's Week Playgym Family Pass for $25 that will give you and your children, up to 6 years old, admission to playgyms being held every day this week. With seven locations across Long Island (Plainview, Woodbury, Westbury, Oakdale, East Northport, Oceanside and St. James), there has to be a location near you.  Call your local Gymboree for details and times or the main office at 631.266.1114 to purchase your pass and for more information.

Children between 3 and 6 years old can attend Winter Camp at Orly's Treehouse being held each day from February 15 through February 19.   Activities will include gymnastics, sports, arts & crafts, bounce houses and much more and lunch is included.  THe morning sessions will run from 10am to 1pm and afternoon sessions from noon to 3pm.  Pre-registration is required and admission is $49 per child per session or $199 for the full week (sibling discounts are available and VIPs receive 10% off).  Orly's Treehouse is located at 1000 Shames Drive, Westbury.  Call 516.333.2277 for more information or to register.

Also available this week are vacation camps at CW Post in Greenvale.  CW Post offers camp during the school vacation when your child is off from school and you're not off from work.  Campers have a place they can go to gather with their friends and enjoy their time off from school.  For more information, pricing and available programs, contact CW Post at 516.299.4004.
