I recently left my Lucy the beagle with Camp Canine of the weekend much to my chagrin not sure what to expect but I was told to expect this from their facility:
- Grooming and spa service by master and expert groomers,
- Voted "South Florida's Best" doggie daycare
- Cat boarding in Ft. Lauderdale location
- Camp counselor on premises 24 hours
- Bus pick up and deliver service
- Boarding with cageless daycare
- Designer pet boutique
While all of these are great, I decided to do more research and see how this place works. There is a woman at the front desk that shouts out any orders needed such as a dog for the front or if a tour is coming through. I took the tour and was amazed at all the animal beds they had in stock not to mention other items as well. I was taken back to the nursery where my Lucy would be since she's under 50 pounds. I didn't think this was a good idea as I figure she's be nipped by the little dogs and she isn't fond of little dogs but the weekend I dropped her off I was told there were several beagles that would be in Lucy's area.
The first day away I waited a couple hours before I called and was told she was getting along very well with the other beagles. The next day I called they let me know that didn't eat breakfast but I shouldn't be too concerned as that can be common in new boarders. The next day I called and she was fitting right in and the girl that answered the phone stated, "I'll let Lucy know you called." Somehow I believe she did. I didn't have to call again until I picked her up to make sure she got her bath and nails trimmed and when I picked her up, she was so soft and smelled great. I wasn't sure if she was happy to see me or didn't want to leave.
We got in the car where she was very good and as soon as we got home, Lucy took a nap in the bed. I guess her new friends wore her out. Camp Canine made sure to know who I was when I called and knew what Lucy was doing at all times. I think that makes for a great place for dogs to interact especially since they won't let any dogs in that aren't currently up to date with their shots.
Writer's opinion: Great staff and good hands on with the dogs to let them run around and play a lot. Can't wait to see them get those web cams up. It will make a huge difference.
Lucy's opinion: Most of the dogs wear me out and I sleep through the night after going to bed early.
All in all Camp Canine, while a bit on the expensive side, was a great hit for Lucy. She had fun and made friends. I will be traveling some more and checking out other boarding and daycare facilities in the future so stay tuned into my web pages for a fair comparison of places to put your dogs in Ft. Lauderdale!
