Cameron Fadley earns male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season the Eastern Maine High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week.

You can send your nominations to Marc @ easternmainesportsblog@yahoo.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.

All stats for the week may not be included if they were not sent in with the nomination.

Male

Cameron Fadley - Foxcroft- Swimming- Won his fifth high school state event, swam the 200 individual medley in a 1:55.77 which is a new class B meet record, won the 100 freestyle with a time of 47.49 and was named performer of the meet for the second straight year. He is the class B Maine state champ in the 200 IM for the past three years now and is up for Class B swimmer of the year, which would be his second straight. Lost one race in the last two years regardless of class. Fadley also owns all of FA's individual male swimming records. This is the fourth straight week that a Foxcroft Academy student/athlete has captured athlete of the week. It is the third straight week a FA student/athlete has captured male athlete of the week. Kyle Bouchard- Houlton- Basketball- Recorded 41 points (17-27 FG), 15 rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals in 72-53 quarterfinal victory over Bucksport. Recorded 18 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in 51-38 semifinal victory over Calais.

Other nominations

Isaiah Bess- Penquis- Basketball- Scored 21 points including his 1000 of his high school career in 51-23 quarterfinal victory over Stearns. Scored 15 points in semifinal victory over Dexter. Scored 22 points including the game tying 3-pointer in 46-41 regional final victory over Houlton.

Trevor Lyford- Penquis- Basketball- Recorded 18 points, five rebounds and three assists in 51-23 quarterfinal victory over Stearns.Recorded 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals in 46-41 regional final victory over Houlton.

John Murray- Medomak Valley- Basketball- Recorded 13 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and two steals in 53-30 quarterfinal victory over Foxcroft.

David McKusick- Dexter- Cheering- Helped to lead his team to its first state title in cheering beating out top teams such as Central, Sumner, and Lisbon. Got to compete a full season since having a shorter season last year due to a heart infection. Demonstrates elite tumbling, stunting, and showmanship. It is Dexter Regional High School's first state title in cheering ever.

Mitch Worcester- Washburn- Basketball- Recorded 34 points, 13 rebounds and three assists in 70-69 quarterfinal victory over Bangor Christian.

Chandler Brewer- Central Aroostook- Scored 27 points (10-10 FT) in 62-55 quarterfinal victory over Katahdin.

Chris Hudson- Hodgdon- Basketball- Recorded 20 points, nine rebounds and five steals in 58-53 quarterfinal victory over Katahdin.

Garet Beal- Jonesport-Beals- Basketball- Scored 38 points in 55-53 quarterfinal loss to Easton.

Hunter Turner- Easton- Basketball- Scored 22 points (8-11 FG) and pulled down 10 rebounds in 55-53 quarterfinal victory over Jonesport-Beals.

Devin Hall- Calais- Basketball- Scored 24 points (8-11 FT) in 50-35 quarterfinal victory over Sumner. Scored 14 points in 51-38 semifinal loss to Houlton.
