According to Yahoo Movies on Tuesday, with the Russo directors of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" having already mentioned that there was supposed to have been a Hawkeye cameo with Jeremy Renner in the film, details of said scene have been made known. The scene was cut due to Renner's conflicting schedule, but this cut scene does hint at where Hawkeye's loyalties tend to remain.
For those who recall the portion of the sequel where Captain America was declared a fugitive by top Hydra operative Alexander Pierce. After that fugitive declaration, director Anthony Russo said that's when Renner would have made his cameo. In the delete scene, Hawkeye was suppose to chase Steve Rogers into the outskirts of Washington D.C. where they meet up in a ravine.
Hawkeye then sends a volley of arrows in the hero's direction as Captain America closes in on Clint Barton. Hawkeye is taken down by Captain America where in he's told by Hawkeye that there's a tracking device on his person and a Quinjet had been keeping an eye on his moves. Then Rogers was asked to punch out Hawkeye to make it look convincing to S.H.I.E.L.D./Hydra Headquarters.
Russo mentioned that there are a sizable amount of iterations of films as content can run the course of going in and out of the movie making process. He likened it to trying to complete the Rubik's Cube puzzle as one keeps seeking the appropriate results constantly until it's seen through to completion. That being said, the director felt it had become quite streamlined as a result and had made it "a little more propulsive."
