Cam Talbot will be between the pipes tonight at Madison Square Garden when the New York Islanders skate into town.
According to ESPN.com, the Rangers are currently exploring their options to find a goalie who will serve as Talbot's backup later this evening, after announcing that Lundqvist will be unable to dress due to illness.. With Lundqvist out and a winter storm sweeping across the tri-state, the option of bringing in a goalie from their AHL squad in Hartford, Conn., may not be possible.
If the Rangers are unable to pull a goalie from either their AHL or ECHL affiliate due to the road conditions, the team will use an emergency goaltender.
Talbot comes into Tuesday's tilt with an impressive 10-3-0 record and a 1.62 GAA. The 26-year-old goaltender made 29 saves on 30 shots in his last start against the Ottawa Senators over the weekend, leading his team to a 4-1 victory on the road.
