Cam Newton injury report news is good for fantasy football owners. Speaking about his injury, Newton stated that “there’s no doubt in my mind” when it comes to playing in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to a report from ESPN on Wednesday (Aug. 27), he will sit out the preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday (Aug. 28) simply as a precaution. Having him ready to go for the regular season is extremely important to this franchise, so they aren’t going to risk anything.

Newton is suffering through fractured ribs that he suffered in a preseason loss to the New England Patriots. Speaking about the injury, he stated, “No setback at all. I'm excited about the opportunity and each day brings more confidence that I am close to 100 percent.'' If starting quarterbacks were given points based on their confidence level heading into the regular season, it is very clear that Newton would be scoring high on any chart. That has to relieve the tension of Carolina Panthers fans.

During the 2013 NFL season, Newton led the Panthers to a 12-4 record and an NFC South division title. The team nabbed the No. 2 seed in the 2014 NFC Playoffs, but got upset in the second-round by the San Francisco 49ers. When injury report for Cam Newton came out last week, the fear was that his ribs could cost him some games in the regular season. Now it is evident that he isn’t going to let that happen and that fantasy football owners should have confidence in starting him during Week 1 action.
