Cam Newton: I want to get it right, and I’m going to get it right right now

The Panthers had the opportunities, but when the game was on the line, the Cardiac Cats once again couldn't convert.

"It was a misunderstanding," Panthers QB Cam Newton said of their failed fourth quarter comeback. "One of the receivers didn’t run the right route, but it is still my job to fix it. You know, I’m not here to point the finger, or I’m not here to bash myself, but that is just unacceptable. It shouldn’t have even been fourth down. I think I could have scored on a lot of them. It was an excellent play call by coach on the naked, and I just have to make that throw. It’s professional football, and you have to hit open targets, wide-open targets when the opportunity presents itself."

When asked about the team's overall trouble in the red zone, Newton didn't know right off hand how to fix the Panthers' problems.

"I don’t know," Newton said. "Really, I don’t know. It hurts leaving the field with three points. I think it is self-inflicted. Whether it is a penalty, whether it is a bad decision, you just have to get it right, and we are going to get it right. I’m not the person to sit up here and say 'well, we have next time.' I want to get it right, and I’m going to get it right right now."
