Blink and you will miss it. The Calvin Klein brand is finally getting some Super Bowl exposure.
Designer Calvin Klein has made sure that there will be a half-naked male model on television during the Super Bowl ads. The brand will run its first-ever Super Bowl ad, a provocative, 30 second, ad according to a Jan. 31 report in WWD. The ad features half naked male model Matthew Terry, flaunting chiseled abs, bulging biceps and flexing his muscles in nothing but a pair of Calvin Klein briefs.
According to WWD, the ad will run at the end of the first quarter. Those who miss the ad on Super Bowl day can catch it on the brand’s Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and YouTube pages, which will feature the new man versus machine themed campaign.
The ad aims to showcase the 360-degree “seamless technology construction”' of the new underwear line, Calvin Klein Concept, the latest product from Calvin Klein Underwear. Tom Murry, president and chief executive of Calvin Klein Inc., said, “This is a significant milestone, and, as an iconic American designer brand, [we] are extremely proud to be able to debut the latest Calvin Klein Underwear campaign during the Super Bowl — the most watched television event annually in the U.S.”
Between this and the Mercedes Benz ad featuring Kate Upton, there is something for everyone at this year's Super Bowl.
Following the Super Bowl commercial, the ad will air on CBS and ESPN. Additional TV spots are slated for Europe, Asia and Mexico in the spring. The ad will also be featured in men’s magazines, including GQ.
