You know what everybody loves? The Pro Bowl. This is especially true when your team is putting the finishing touches on a collapse that cost them a division title. OK, so maybe people aren't usually that enthused by the Pro Bowl, but this year is different! Now instead of having an NFC team and an AFC team they just threw a bunch of players together and then Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice are going to name teams. It's like the NHL All-Star Game, but not as good. Anyway, the Lions got two Pro Bowl players. They are the two you think: Calvin Johnson and Ndamukong Suh.
There is zero surprise here. Megatron is having another great season, even though he's been dealing with a knee injury pretty much all season. He may not play in the season finale, but even if he doesn't he'll finish with almost 1,500 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. He's a great wide receiver. We all love him. I also don't expect him to play in the Pro Bowl, because of his knee. He'll just sit it out, like pretty much everybody does. Still, it's an honor just to be nominated and all that.
Suh, as a defensive tackle, doesn't have stats that are as notable. He has 46 tackles, 5.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and six stuffs. However, we all know the value he brings. He stops runs. He hurries the passer. He gets double teamed. He doesn't take as many penalties as his reputation would indicate. The Lions have an elite player on offense and an elite player on defense. Both made it into the Pro Bowl.
Congratulations to Johnson and Suh. You are big, bright, shining stars that have risen out of the muck.
