Skinnygirl offers a wine that is labeled as 100 calories. That is a motivation to try it, however it is hard to see where the calories make this wine worth drinking. The question is, is this 100 calories per bottle?--which is nearly impossible--or is it 100 calories per 5 oz glass?

So the question is how many calories are in wine made by Skinnygirl per bottle? I will be honest an admit that upon twisting open a bottle of California red, I was pleasantly surprised with the smell and the consistency. The taste was noticeably light especially for a red wine.

Unlike other wine critics, in my opinion it didn't taste watered down. This is because it was very flavorful. Yet, it didn't put me in that clarification state of mindful enjoyment that is usually achieved during my daily dose of wine. In other words, I didn't receive a buzz. In fact, this was a bit confusing and so after finishing the first glass I had another, still nothing!

Therefore, after great consideration I finished the entire bottle and still nothing! There are some things missing from the bottle, is it carbohydrates, sulfates, alcohol, or what? This wine requires further examination. Normally when you drink an entire bottle of wine, you will get tipsy if not drunk depending on how much you've eaten. I'm not saying that the Skinnygirl wine should be taken off the drink list. However, this is not the bottle of wine to open among treasured guest. Furthermore, it is definitely not a bottle you'd open when you want to close that big business deal.

Anyone who is worried about gaining weight because of calories in wine---should just simply cut back on consumption by ounces. The idea of 100 calorie wine and alcohol sounds good and it is a great marketing strategy. It just takes the enjoyment out of the glass.
