Since 2009, veterinarian Dr. Danny Gray has diligently saved the lives of countless animals in the emergency/critical care unit at Veterinary Emergency Referral Group (VERG). Last year, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy, but the cancer is back, and he is now awaiting a bone marrow transplant.
On Saturday, October 12, Brooklyn Bark will be partnering with VERG in a search for potential bone marrow donors for Dr. Gray. The event will take place at Monument Plaza at the top of Ft. Greene Park from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. The vets at VERG will be performing the test for finding a match, which is a simple cheek swab (for the humans, of course). To thank donors, VERG, Brooklyn Bark and The Honest Kitchen will provide goodies and treats for all donors’ pups.
If you cannot make the event, but would like to help Dr. Gray, you can request a free volunteer donor kit online at DeleteBloodCancer.org and send in a swab directly. For more information about Dr. Gray, visit VERG’s site.
