The Mooyah franchise is opening a new restaurant off of Preston and Parker Road. After recently running a promotion for free turkeyburgers (with a purchase of a drink) on Jan. 22, 2013, they now want their fans to join the Turkeytarian Moo’vement by texting turkeytarian to 30364 in order to enter their contest to win free turkey burgers for a year.
While the words free turkey burger sounds good, we wondered whether or not they are healthy since they are a burger joint. After looking into it, the answer is yes. If someone were to order the regular hamburger with cheese, bacon and ketchup only, then their total calorie count would still be under the 700 calorie meal mark.
So their regular burger weighs in at just 693 calories*, so eating just one won’t blow your entire diet. They also use trans fat free oil, and hand cut all of their own fries.
On their website, they give all of their nutritional information, which is key to someone on a calorie restricted diet. They give the nutritional content on everything from their burgers, burger toppings, sauces and fries, all the way to the detail on their shakes. Here is a sample of what someone could get to stay within their 700 calorie total meal:
Option 1
Calories Item
190 White Hamburger Bun
200 Turkey Burger Patty
0 Mustard
Cholula
or Buffalo Sauce
255 Small Sweet Potato Fries with Seasoning
15 Ketchup for dipping
660 Total calories*
Option 2
Calories Item
210 2 Chicken Tenders
60 2 tbps BBQ Sauce
255 Small Size Sweet Potato Fries with Seasoning
15 Ketchup for dipping
540 Total calories*
Don’t worry my gluten free friends; they also have gluten free options! The turkey burgers and beef burgers are gluten free when eaten without the buns, and for only 280 calories* you can get the bun free hotdog with the 255 calorie* small sweet potato fries. Yes, the sweet potato fries are gluten free too.
If you would rather drink your dinner, and stay underneath that 700 calorie* mark, then you might just be out of luck here. However, while there aren’t any adult shakes underneath 850 calories*, the kids shakes offer 11 options of shakes under 700 calories*. These kids’ shakes include: Oreo, caramel, strawberry, vanilla, banana, mocha, Snickers, Butterfinger, M&M, cookie dough, and Reeses PB Cups.*
