Want to learn more about being a volunteer tax preparer?
Last year, Earn It! Keep It! Save It! (EKS) Marin VITA site volunteers helped over 1,000 people prepare their tax returns for free, which brought back over $1.3 million in refunds. This year, they are offering this same service in the Marin County area, and they are looking for new volunteers to help out.
Local tax expert Douglas Pickford will once again new volunteers in their two-day TaxWise online software to prepare and e-file tax returns. The training sessions will be held on the Dominican University campus in San Rafael.
Volunteers will receive hands-on practice using practice lab problems, and will get support in preparing for the certification test. Lunch provided.

The people who are served by the VITA free tax service are struggling financially, and simply cannot afford the hundreds of dollars required for a professional tax preparer.
