Callaway cars based out of Old Lyme, Conn. (with design studios in Santa Ana, Calif) recently pulled the wraps on the rendering of their 2014 Callaway AeroWagon earlier yesterday (March 14,2013). Known for making some of the most unique and original concepts for the Chevrolet line of vehicles (most notably the Corvette), Callaway has taken the 7th generation Corvette Stingray and effectively transformed it into a shooting brake (a body design that incorporates a coupe and wagon into one.)
At a planned option price of $15 thousand above the base price of a new Corvette, Callaway will outfit a 2014 Chevrolet Stingray with an openable hatch in the rear which will increase interior space and would turn the regular coupe bodystyle into a functional high performance Corvette.
When outfitted to Callaway’s C7 Corvette, the 2014 Callaway AeroWagon concept would be capable of more than 200 mph while still retaining the highest mpg rating of any supercar in its segment.
Possibilities are endless with the extra space. For one, a day at the track might be just a little easier with the capability to haul a full set of tires and all your tools. Or the extra cargo room can accommodate an extended road trip wherever you might go.
And this being Callaway's 21st official concept, it is given the project name C21.
Callaway’s concept’s are quintessentially American in feeling, and this shooting brake concept is no different. Callaway is the concept company that turned a C4 Corvette back in 1988 (24 years ago) into a supercar capable of 254 mph (thanks to two giant turbos) while still retaining its driveability in everyday traffic. And just in case you where wondering, Callaway clubs and Callaway Corvette’s are indeed related.
