If you are a parent you are probably used to hearing your children grumble "I'm bored" on more than one occasion. Well, have no fear; there are a lot of fun activities at Callaway Gardens to help keep even the grumpiest tween busy and entertained.
Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain is opening its gates free of charge from January 1 through February 28th. They are inviting everyone to "Be Our Guest." Admission is complimentary for these two months allowing guests to have the opportunity to enjoy time with their family in the gardens. Callaway offers a variety of exhibits, shows, and special events.
Your first stop should be at the Virginia Hand Callaway Discovery Center. Here you will find an information desk and interactive kiosks to show you all you need to know about what there is to enjoy at Callaway Gardens. There is also an orientation theater, gift shop and café located in the Center.
Your next stop should be the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center which offers 1,000 different varieties of butterflies flying freely through the conservatory, art work and a gift shop. Then peruse the indoor and outdoor gardens at the John A. Sibley Horticultural Center. The gardens are five acres of native and exotics plants. There are also several trails to walk to enjoy the gardens as well. Next let your kids see what pioneer life was like at the Pioneer Log Cabin. Here they see toys children played with from that era and how they lived.
Some upcoming events in January and February include: Birds of Prey Shows, Needle Arts, Beading and Jewelry Design Workshops and much more. You can also enjoy several recreation activities at Callaway to include: bicycle trials, fishing, tennis, and golf. For more information visit: www.callawaygardens.com
