Call-to-Artists: 62nd Annual All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition

The deadline for artist submissions to the Boca Museum of Art’s 62nd Annual All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition is fast approaching. Artists must submit their work by February 28.

As the state’s oldest annual juried competition, the Museum’s All Florida has introduced the work of thousands of Floridians working in a wide array of media, from emerging to established artists. Interested applicants can submit their work for consideration at the website juriedartservices.com. Artists can submit 1 to 3 artworks. Visit www.bocamuseum.org/allflorida for more details on applying.

This year’s All Florida juror is Mark Scala, Chief Curator at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts in Nashville, Tennessee, where he has worked since 2000. Scala’s most recent exhibition is Fairy tales, Monsters, and the Genetic Imagination (2012), an international survey that explores the symbolism of the hybrid body in contemporary works inspired by sources ranging from folklore to science fiction, as well as recent advances in genetic engineering, prosthetics, and other aspects of bodily adaptation.

Representing a cross-section of the state’s talent, the 62nd Annual All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition reinforces the Museum’s commitment to local artists, provides professional exhibition opportunities for emerging artist, and reveals a provocative glimpse of the state of Florida art. The exhibition will run from May 7 to July 14, 2013.
