An insider may have clarified some rumors surrounding the potential new video game, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.” According to a report from Softpedia on March 6, a YouTube personality going by the alias of “Drift0r” recently posted for some information on the next installment of the “Call of Duty” franchise.
The insider revealed that the new title is indeed set in the same universe as the previous “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” games. However, it may not necessarily be a direct sequel. The forthcoming software product may also be take place in the future with an art style similar to “Titanfall.”
The tentatively-titled “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” is being developed by Sledgehammer Games, a studio that was recently announced to be one of the three main developers of the franchise. The original studio responsible for the “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” series, Infinity Ward released “Call of Duty: Ghosts” last year. The other team, Treyarch, created the “Call of Duty: Black Ops” series.
Activision is expected to release “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4” in late 2014. The video game will be developed primarily for the PS4 and Xbox One next-generation systems although it should also come out for the current generation consoles.
