PlayStation and PC gamers have been eagerly awaiting news of when the next round of downloadable content would drop for “Call of Duty: Ghosts.” Earlier this month the “Devastation” DLC launched on Xbox Live, and now according to an April 10 tweet by the official “Call of Duty” Twitter account, “Devastation” is heading for PlayStation and PC in May.
The 124 character tweet announced that the long-awaited “Call of Duty: Ghosts” “Devastation” map pack will be available for download on the PlayStation network and PC beginning on May 8. The “Devastation” DLC is said to have four brand new maps, a new hybrid SMG/assault rifle, and will feature the legendary creature from the 1987 movie “Predator.”
The “Predator” is the second movie character to make an appearance in “Call of Duty: Ghosts.” The white-faced, dead-eyed, Michael Myers, who has been featured in the iconic “Halloween” movies since 1978, was also featured in “Call of Duty: Ghosts” as a part of the “Onslaught” DLC.
The maps will include “Ruins,” “Behemoth,” “Collision,” and “Unearthed,” which are said to be small to medium-sized maps. Activision has announced that each of these new maps will include a unique perk. These perks include being able to trigger a volcano eruption on “Ruins,” firing a minigun from a helicopter on “Behemoth,” manning an A10 jet on “Collision,” and finally on “Unearthed” players get to call in three aliens.
Some users often ask why downloadable content for “Call of Duty: Ghosts” is launched on Xbox LIVE before any other system. According to an article published by Charlieintel.com, Xbox LIVE has exclusive first rights to “Call of Duty” content due to a contract between Activision and Microsoft that was signed in 2010.
“Devastation” is the second of four DLC map packs set to be released for “Call of Duty: Ghosts.” If you aren't a “Call of Duty: Ghosts” season pass holder the “Devastation” DLC will cost you $14.99.
