Treyarch released Call of Duty: Black Ops patch 1.04 to the Playstation 3 early this morning in the hopes of fixing many lingering issues with player connections for multiplayer games and other issues. So far the patch doesn't appear to have done the trick as gamers are complaining about many of the same problems with some of them turning out worse.
Update: Here is a potential fix for the PS3 Black Ops issues.
Owners of the PS3 shooter have hit the official Call of Duty forums, the Playstation forums, our own articles and elsewhere to voice their frustrations with the game. It isn't clear yet if this is a case of only those negatively affected complaining but there appears to be enough in common between the complaints to cause concerns.
Players are reporting long waits to to find games to connect with, being dropped from lobbies multiple times, getting dropped from games and other issues such as hard resets. Host migration also appears to be an issue when the host disconnects whether intentionally or not.

Taken 1 hour to play 1.5 games of TDM. When they're actually running, they run really well. But finding a game was frustrating to the max. Often it would do the countdown and get to 0..then do nothing, and sit on the lobby screen with nothing happening.
oh and dont even get me started on hard resets. so here's the stats:
1hr 15mins of time with the ps3 on
11 failure to connect to host
13 times it just couldnt find a lobby (despite 76,000 people in the game list)
2 hard resets
booted from 6 games
games played 4 domination and 5 tdm.
The NAT (Network Address Translation) appears to be one of the main culprits as many are reporting showing a 'Strict' or 'Moderate' NAT status online with the game. Some users have suggested changing the router settings for the PS3 to put it in DMZ to help with that.
The problems do not appear to be as rampant over on the Xbox 360 side of the Black Ops pond but it was more stable to begin with. However, platforms appear to share an unwelcome undocumented change. The ability to mute players in the lobby has been removed.

The patch has done nothing. My PS3 is set in DMZ with the router linked to the PS3 also set in DMZ, and the game is still showing my NAT type as Strict.
Getting nothing but host migration followed by game lobby closed messages - haven't had one complete game since the patch. The Titanic was patched better than this game.
I have a ps3 and didnt have any problems to begin with.

yehh mine was ok occasionally disconecting saying game lobby closed but since this patch its almost constant its slower at finding a game then 9/10 times it says game lobby closed as its about to start or my ps3 freezes middle of a game thats happened 4 times today or after the game the lobby closes its beyond annoying!
This is beyond rediculous. I was all about free PS3 network, but if it doesn't work it's not really worth it. I'm very close to buying an x-box. Triarch isn't impressing me much ether. It's a little too even now. Noobs @ level 1 are ment to be slaughterd like lambs and pay them dues untill they learn, level up and get better stuff. Forget this prestiege 8 times and just make it take 6 months to get to lev. 50. Or at least give me a my custom slots now. my friends use most of them so I'm trying to advertise your stuff but your not makeing it easy for me. when we're not sitting around waiting for sorry connections, we're waiting for sombody to change weapons, and set up just how they like it. I hate waiting. >:(

I downloaded this patch earlier today and have not been able to complete a game online since. I had very few problems before, but after 9 separate attempts since the patch I am getting no further than a couple of minutes into a game when the whole system freezez and I have to pull the plug and reboot from scratch. This is a disgrace!!

Ive only completed one match of domination, after that my game froze within 1 minute of Mercenary. After trying it again, my game froze again within 2 minutes. Now im looking for a lobby for over 10 minutes....
guess its time for combat training with some friends or Single Player.....

i have a ps3 and haven't experienced a game "fraught with issues." and, actually, i own this game for the 360, have used their servers, and experienced the same "issues" as i am getting now on the ps3.
the issues, in case you're curious, revolve around rooms closing/splitting in half/erroring out during join. but honestly, that's the case with EVERY game online.

this update seems to have made it worse before update i was getting disconnecteds from games. but now i cant find any local games at all , and game has froze 5 time sin 1 hour causing me to have to turn off and on a again.
Oh my god what have they done. Has anyone got cheif exec email of treyarch cos we should all email him and see how hes like it. The so call patch has screwed this up completley , four of my mates have exactly the same issues. There are normally 700000+ online at this time of night and now there only 350000. Server connection timed out in every single game I played after the patch this is unbearable. REPATCH THIS QUICKLY!!!

the patch didnt fix anything it made things worse it took ten minutes to find a game and when i did i got disconnected or kicked off. Most people I know have gone back to MW and MW2 I think going foward anything with the treyarch stink on it i will avoid.

THIS IS BAD. Can't play for more than a couple minutes without game freezing and saying connection lost. When it is actually running the lag is ridiculous guys jumping all over the place.

I think I'm the only one to get this, but when I start certain games the map is multicoloured? Not the mini-map in the corner, I mean buildings infront of me... They're like purple and green and stuff like that, it's well cool.
I've been online for an hour and a half and only managed to complete one game.(PS3) This patch has made matchmaking much much worse.

The game has got considerably worse since the implementation of patch 1.04. SInce day 1 the game has lagged evry second of every day, the framerate can be very low at times and when combined with lag is completely unplayable. Host migrations and connection interrupts are rampant. Id say 1 out of every 20 games does not disconnect. I am putting this game back tomorrow, i gave treyarch a chance to patch it and obviously they arnt up tpo the job, owell im going to purchase medal of honour instead.
Treyarch really messed it up with 1.04..god if I could only complete 1 frickin game i would be so happy....
downloaded patch, game play is worse. console freeze's every 2-3 games. this blows!!!!! treyarch please pull it together
