As a result of players discovering a glitch which allows them to instantly achieve prestige rank 10 in “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2”, Treyarch announced yesterday that they will be fixing the issue and dealing with the offenders. The developer addressed the issue yesterday in a post on their official Twitter, stating the following.

Noticed a few “level 10” guys ruining the party for everyone…enjoy your new rank while it lasts. Solution (and demotions) incoming.

Later in the day, Treyarch reminded players of the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2Security and Enforcment Policy. The use of this specific exploit would fall under the boosting category of the rules for online play. This specific section deals with users who “exploit the game for the purpose of gaining XP, prestige, game score, weapon level, or in-game unlock.” The penalties for this offense are as follows.

  • First offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
  • Second offense: User will be temporarily banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, will have online split-screen privileges revoked, and will have their leaderboard entries deleted.
  • Extreme or multiple repeat offenses: User will be permanently banned from playing the game online, will have their stats & emblems reset, and will be blocked permanently from appearing in leaderboards.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” is now available on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
