This past Tuesday, Activision and Treyarch hosted their latest celebrity Grudge Match to celebrate the release of the new "Revolution" DLC Map Pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. These Grudge Matches have often pitted some of the best athletes in sports in a playing field that gamers can identify with, the immensely popular Call of Duty series. For this edition of the Grudge Match - which took place in Treyarch's studio in Southern California - the participants were two-time World Series champion Matt Cain of the San Francisco Giants and Tampa Bay Rays all-star Evan Longoria.
After a few practice matches where both all-stars had a chance to get acclimated to the new maps, the Grudge Match was on. Unfortunately for Cain, the result of this fight did not end up with him celebrating like he did last season as Longoria and his crew won three games to none.
Prior to the match, we were able to hop on and try out some of the new maps in the "Revolution" DLC, including the sandy "Mirage" map, which takes place in a resort community of sorts that has gone wrong. The sand allows for plenty of strategic options, none of which we were able to use as we were soundly beaten by the Treyarch staff that was in attendance and were already familiar with the map.
We also had a chance to chat with both Cain and Longoria about their love of Call of Duty, whether they are single-player or multi-player types of games and various other topics, including a fake Frank Thomas, reminiscing about favorite old video games, Penny Hardaway and sneakers. The new "Revolution" DLC map pack is available now on the Xbox Live Marketplace for $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points with other platforms (PS3, PC) to follow.
