Call It a Bumbershoot If You Like...

Spring is literally around the corner, and while that means that a lot of great things are on the horizon, from baseball to the beach to bikinis, that also means rain. Maybe even lots of it. With that being said, its time to throw out that $5 umbrella that you bought from the guy on the street. You know the one, its black, small, probably already broken, and please don’t bring up the golf umbrella. It’s appropriately named, its for golf, playing the game on a golf course, not traversing the streets of the city.

You’re a gentleman, you wear nice clothes, you own nice shoes, you take care of yourself, and while it might seem like a frivolous expenditure at first, a great umbrella is both a statement piece and a sound investment. And if you spend a few hundred dollars on an umbrella, despite what you might think, you will take care of it, keep an eye out for it and you should expect to have it for years to come.

Check out Fox Umbrellas, in business since 1868, and handmade in Surrey, south of London. This is the epitome of a gentleman’s umbrella, or “brolly,” available in solid colors or the traditional tartan, and with a variety of woods available for the handles or “sticks.” Choose from Maple, Hickory, or Oak, just to name a few. Folks will take notice of your umbrella, you will stay dry, and you’ll look sharp all the while. Just don’t leave your new purchase at the coat check, that will be one expensive gaffe, and one that you won’t soon forget.

Here’s to spring...
