Calista Flockhart has joined Harrison Ford in the UK following his injury on the set of "Star Wars VII." Ford was injured on set last Thursday when a door from the infamous Millennium Falcon fell on him. The actor suffered a broken ankle because of the accident. His wife did not immediately rush to be by his side, but she did fly out when it was revealed that his injury is more serious than first expected. The Christian Post reported on the accident and Calista Flockhart's plans on June 18.
Harrison Ford is currently 71 years old, and he is reprising his role of Han Solo for the new "Star Wars" film. JJ Abrams is bringing the film series back to life with a new trilogy. After it was revealed that the film franchise would return, speculation about the cast and the plot of the film ran wild, but it was made clear almost from the beginning that the original cast would play some role in the new trilogy. The original cast did not want to join the new trilogy at first though. The actors would only return together.
Production began on the new film in May, and the cast includes not only Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher, but there are new faces joining the "Star Wars" universe as well. This includes Lupita Nyong'o' and Adam Driver. There is still speculation about the plot, but recent reports have Jedi hunters as the villains in this new trilogy. However, these reports have not been confirmed. In fact, some sites have denied those reports. No official word from the set or those involved with the film itself has been released though.
As for Ford's injury, the broken ankle will take eight weeks to recover, and it might need plates and screws. This comes from the son of the actor. He might have also suffered from pelvic and chest injuries due to the doors closing on him. That report has not yet been confirmed though. Things have been kept under wraps. A nurse that even mentioned the actor being at the hospital she works at, but her Twitter was switched to private after the tweet, according to Travelers Today.
Ford's injury will not halt production of the film. At this time, the film is still set for a December 2015 release. A source from the set did talk about the impact of Ford's injury on the production. The source said the following: "The initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move things around but now we have had more time we can juggle thing, bring some scenes forward and push others back. There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster. We are confident the film can stay on schedule."
If Ford does decide to return to the production when filming restarts tomorrow, it is possible the actor will be filmed only from the waist up. If he cannot film at all until he recovers, the scene schedule will need to be changed. For now, Ford is recovering, and his wife is by his side. Calista Flockhart is best known for her roles on "Ally McBeal" and "Brothers and Sisters." The couple has been married for four years.
