California toddler Madeline Samaan-Fay and father found dead in SUV

Sommerset, Calif. - On Saturday, the California toddler who was the subject of an Amber Alert, Madeline Samaan-Fay, was found dead with her father inside his SUV in a remote area of El Dorado County, according to the FBI.

Mourad “Moni” Samaan's green Toyota 4Runner was found at about 8:00 p.m. near the town of Sommerset, where investigators continue to process the scene.

On Friday, an Amber Alert was issued regarding the girl after her father -- an Egyptian-born U.S. citizen -- kidnapped Madeline on Aug. 7 and was thought to be headed to the San Francisco Bay area.

According to Mercury News, Samaan snatched the child after he lost joint custody of her. They were last seen on Aug. 7 in a Sacramento grocery store.
