California Strawberry Festival on May 21 and 22

About 60 miles outside of Los Angeles, you can visit the 21st largest city in California. Oxnard, once a home to the Chumash Indians, is an agricultural city best known for its produce with strawberries being one of the top two items. Each year they host the California Strawberry Festival, inviting all Californians to have a hand in the festivities.

Date: Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Location: Strawberry Meadows of College Park – 3250 South Rose Avenue, Oxnard, CA (map)

Parking: Available Shuttle at “Park ‘N’ Ride” sites or $10 onsite parking

Cost: General Admissions is $12/ Seniors over 62 $8/ Active military and family with ID $8/ Children ages 5-12 $5/ All kids 4 and under FREE

Visit the Strawberry Promenade during your time at the Strawberry Festival, to partake in the Berry Blast Off Recipe Cook-Off Contest, Celebrity Chef Cooking Demonstration, Strawberry Storytime, How to Grow Your Own Strawberry Garden and Produce Lesson, and the Still Life Strawberry Guided Draw Lesson.

For the little ones, there will be free rides and attractions like a Ferris Wheel, Kiddy Train, and Merry-GO-Round. There is also a tented event called “Jest in Time Family Fun Stage” sponsored by Dannon. The stage event will feature jugglers, magicians, and more to keep the attention of your kiddie(s). There is also a meet and greet with the official Berryfest Princess of Strawberryland Strawberry Shortcake.

Over 200 arts and crafts booths displaying photography, oil painting, handcrafted jewelry, sculptures, ceramic, garden art, and others will be on site, as well.

Musical acts from all genres of music including Acapella, Big Band, Latin Pop, Funk, R& B, Ska, Raggae, and classic tribute bands will hit the stage during the weekend. All music performances are being sponsored by Budweiser and California Ford Dealers.
