No one wants to hear their children have been sexually exposed. When it happens in a place they are supposed to be protected and no one was there to intervene, it breaks our hearts.
According to ABC News, a California father is dealing with this issue right now after his son reported to him that he received oral sex from a five year old female student at his school. The school closed shortly after, but denies its closing has anything to do with this incident.
It's shocking to say the least. Sexual curiosity in young children, however, is quite normal. And at age 4 to 5, it grows from curiosity in self to more curiosity towards others. Normal curiosity usually takes the form of looking, or even trying to touch, but oral manipulation crosses the line of normal to a potential red flag --at least it does in my view. Though the focus of this news story was on the unfortunate experience of this father, his young boy, and the closing of a school, I cannot help but wonder if the girl, whom the child's father seemingly inferred was a 'sexual predator' (remember, she's 5!) has had some inappropriate sexual exposure of her own. In my honest opinion, this warrants further investigation.
