Reported today, Lonny Lee Remmers, 56, a California pastor had lead two other church members back in March 2012, Nicholas James Craig, 24, and Darryll Duane Jetter, 30, to brutally torture and almost kill a 13-year-old boy. According to news interviews, Remmers’ neighbors had no idea about the attack, and were shocked.

Apparently Remmers had directed church gatherings as a pastor under the name Heart of Worship Community Church, but bible studies for church followers were held at his home in Corona, California. The other two assailants and the victim were living in the same group home at the time the crime took place. According to the L.A. Times, at one bible study visit the boy had been forced to sit in the middle of a circle of men, and then Remmer “allegedly” applied pliers to the boy’s nipples. The court documents describe the two younger assailants were later told by Remmers, to “scare” the victim.

The two church members tortured him in the shower with mace, and salt before the 13-year-old boy was kidnapped from the group home, and taken into the desert and told to dig his own grave by Craig and Jeter. Supposedly one of the church followers was Police Cpl. Margaret Bell, who was told by another member of the boy’s torture. But apparently, Bell decided to pass the information onto another party because she was “loyal” to the church, but she was later charged, on July 2012, for not reporting the suspected crime. According to The Press Enterprise, Remmers has plead guilty to kidnap and assault charges and will be sentenced Sept. 26
