A woman's dog fell victim to a brutal attack on Christmas Eve in Sonoma County, Calif., reported Thursday's publication of the San Francisco Gate.
Authorities arrested 35-year-old Alan Evans after he allegedly stabbed his roommate's small dog to death; the man is also accused of threatening to "eat" his roommate.
The bizarre situation started around 6:30 p.m., inside of a home on Hall Road. The unnamed victim, who is Evan's roommate, told the authorities that Evans was "talking incoherently and making no sense," prior to the attack.
The man allegedly went to the kitchen to grab a knife and threatened to "eat" the woman.
The woman was able to escape the home and call for help from a neighbor's residence, but her dog was fatally stabbed; authorities found the dog's body beneath Evans' car.
The brutal attack landed Evans behind bars and facing a slew of charges, including animal cruelty, assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and making threats.
Evans is being held on $250,000 bond.
In a strange twist, according to the Press-Democrat, the man accused of the bloody attack on Christmas Eve has also been a victim himself; in early October, he was attacked by a man with a machete.
