California Heights in Long Beach's largest historic district

California Heights is one of 17 historic neighborhoods in Long Beach. It is bordered by Bixby Rd on the North, Wardlow to the South, Cherry Avenue to the East and Atlantic on the West. California Heights is the largest of Long Beach’s historic district encompassing some 1500 homes.

As you drive down the charming streets of California Heights you can’t help but notice the beautiful trees and well kept original homes. The unique neighborhood first recognized as an historical district in 1990 includes homes that were built mostly in the 1920s and 30s with many being Spanish revival, California Craftsman, Tudor style, and some traditional. At the corner of Atlantic Ave. and 36th St. in Long Beach is a monument declaring California Heights an historic district. 

Current listings according to the multiple listing service range from $300,000 to $669,000. The average sold in the area in the last 6 months was $475,000 with sold prices ranging from $325,000 to $699,000. Homes may qualify for the Mills Act which includes property tax relief.
