California fireball: Another meteor sighting over California after asteroid

A California fireball last night has the public talking this Saturday afternoon, as Freep News reported this Feb. 16 that San Francisco citizens saw a new foreign object sighting was seen over U.S. skies.

A meteor first hit Russia this week, then a giant asteroid was reported to have come very close to Earth, and now a California fireball — which experts are now calling another “random meteor” — was seen to streak in the night sky this Friday.

A blue light flash was called in Friday evening in California, and reports from people who saw it on Facebook add that the coloring of the meteor’s fire tail — first a blue, then green and yellow as it passed over San Francisco — was “incredible.”

No damage is known to have come from the “California fireball,” but much of the public is rightfully asking why these meteor falls and asteroid sighting have been seen so much lately.
