Bakersfield, CA - A small dog, grieviously wronged by her owner, has been swept into the hearts of animal lovers across the nation.
The dog, a small, white terrier known as Lacie, touched so many with the sharing of just one sad photo - a photo showing the damage to her sweet face. A face seriously wounded by chemical burns.
An outpouring of love enabled the injured dog to receive the surgery necessary to help save her eyesight. The surgery, performed today, was covered by the generous donations that were phoned in to her vet clinic - Coffee Road Animal Hospital.
The Bakersfield Police have arrested the man that they believe to be responsible for Lacie's injuries. The man, Robert Gonzales, is reported to be Lacie's owner. Gonzales has been charged with animal cruelty.
It has been reported that Gonzales tied Lacie up, sprayed bleach in her face, and beat her with a golf club. It's amazing that a small dog could survive such an attack.
But Lacie has survived and she is now surrounded by loving individuals that will ensure that she knows nothing but comfort and kindness for the remainder of her life.

Dru, I wish I could have replied to your post but this is in the same area at least....I agree 100% with you. Animal abuse seems to be increasing at an alarming rate. Poor Lacie. I can't begin to imagine the horror this poor little dog endured. Thank God she's being cared for now and will never have to see that POS Gonzales again. He deserves to have the same thing done to him and I'll be glad to be the one to do it.
Don't you all worry, he is going to get his in a worse fashion than that little dog after his punishment on earth......then he will be forgiven
The worst part about all this is that most likely, he will get off with a slap on the wrist. I know there is overcrowding in prison, but officials need to realize that if they can do this to an animal, they could easily do this to a child. Something needs to be done about these people.

I agree with all of you! This MF should receive the same treatment he gave to little Lacie. Too much of this s*** is going on. I don't understand what has made people become such MONSTERS that they will hurt these poor animals?! It is supposed to be against the law for this to go on! I'm on board too....I'm a firm believer in an eye for an eye! That SOB needs to be tied up, sprayed in the face with bleach and then beaten with a golf club or better yet several golf clubs to make up for the size difference!! I think that is the only justice for the scum bag!!

We have a West Highland White Terrier and my heart breaks for this sweet dog. How good it is to have people like you who make these situations known. My Heidi and I will keep praying for Lacie and I hope that you will post updates on her progress.
I was just thinking she looks like a Westie. I have 2 cairn terriers (look like Westies, only not white). That poor little sweet girl. My heart breaks for her. I know that with her terrier spirit, she will recover. It may take some time, but one day she will be feisty and spunky again. Lacey, we are all pulling for you, sweetheart. I hope that the scum that did this to you winds up in prison. They treat animal abusers like those who abuse children.

The picture is terrible. However the pictures now, after being attended to, are grisly, horrible, and gut wrenching. How do I know? Because I know the folks, personally, at the Coffee Road Animal Hospital, and they are among the best, most caring folks I've come across in my 73 years. I am not a vet or a vet tech. However: My SOLE opinion is that bleach was not the chemical used - rather, it looks to me that it was much more caustic - perhaps muriatic acid or some sort of drain cleaner. I think someone needs to print out all of our comments and give them to the DA judge listed above. This needs to stop. These animals are helpless and do not deserve such abuse. People are just crazy and sadly this abuse seems to happen most often in the hands of uneducated, low income poverty stricten areas or just plain ignorant and nasty people with no concious.

I would like to see him receive the same torture and abuse that he inflicted on poor Lacie! Of course that won't happen, but he should at least receive the harshest punishment possible-the monster and criminal!!
Friends and family must be terribly proud of Mr. Gonzales. He can beat up a six pound dog. I've posted this to every page I can find. I think you are a despicable man and wish nothing but the same treatment for you. You are scum.
